TikTok image requirements
TikTok uses images for three main purposes:
- Profile photo: 200×200px minimum, square
- Video cover (thumbnail): 1080×1920px (vertical)
- Video cover (landscape): 1920×1080px
File size guidance
TikTok accepts images up to about 10MB. Files in the 300KB-1MB range upload instantly and display sharply. Anything larger adds no visible benefit — TikTok re-encodes and resizes on upload anyway.
Format choice
JPG is the safest format for TikTok. PNG works for graphics with transparency. WebP uploads are not reliably supported.
Upload tips
- Use a clear, high-contrast photo for your profile — it will be displayed small
- For video covers, choose a frame that reads clearly at thumbnail size
- Prepare the image at the full recommended dimensions, then compress
How FITLY helps
Set a target of 500KB, JPG format, and a max dimension matching your use (200px for profile, 1080px for video cover). Drop the image in and download the result. All processing is local — nothing is uploaded.
