Convert images between formats online
Converting between JPG, PNG and WebP is one of the most common tasks when preparing images for websites, forms and apps. Each format has different strengths, and the right choice depends on what the image is for.
Which conversion to choose
- JPG to WebP — the single best conversion for website performance. WebP files are typically 25-35% smaller than JPG at the same visual quality.
- PNG to JPG — perfect for photographic content that was saved as PNG. Reduces file size by 5-10x with no visible difference on screen.
- JPG to PNG — rarely useful for photographs (PNG is much larger), but good if you need lossless precision.
- WebP to JPG — for compatibility. Some older forms, email clients and desktop software still do not accept WebP.
- PNG to WebP — keeps transparency while reducing file size significantly. Great for logos and UI graphics.
How to use the converter
Drop your image into the tool above. Choose the output format from the "Convert to" dropdown. Optionally set a target file size (50KB, 100KB, 200KB, 500KB, 1MB or custom) and a max dimension. Click "Convert and compress" and download the result.
The tool handles resize, format conversion and compression in a single pass. You do not need to run multiple tools.
What happens to transparency
JPG does not support transparency. If you convert a PNG or WebP with transparent areas to JPG, those areas are filled with white. If you need to keep transparency, convert to PNG or WebP instead.
Quality and file size
Lossy conversions (anything to JPG or WebP) discard some information, but at high quality settings the difference is invisible. FITLY works from the target size you choose, so you always get the smallest file that fits without visible degradation.
Everything stays on your device
FITLY processes all conversions locally in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to a server, no account is required, and no file is stored anywhere.
